Words of Assurance

I try to examine difficult situations using wisdom
As no easy answers ever seem to be obtained
In fact the more I stop to consider all the options
Confusion slowly settles in keeping me restrained

Brain cells stir rapidly bringing questions to mind
Should I do this, maybe I should do that instead
The future results could effect people unknown
Pondering "what if' continuously within my head

Emotions and feelings can provide the confidence
Stemming up through the body from the sunken heart
Then the mind provides logic mixed with reasoning
Binding up quick responses, trapped from the start

Where do I turn when confronted with this turmoil
To whom in this world can I believe in with trust
Hypocrites with opinions centered around themselves
Subjecting me to the focus of gossip brings disgust

I'm so thankful that I have an intimate relationship
Allowing me to share the agony of suffering in this life
It's situations like these I sincerely know where to go
Bearing a cross with overwhelming joy instead of strife

Coming before the Throne of a blood saturated cross
Removes the weight of worrisome lack of judgement
A forgiving God loving me shall be who I solely trust
Offering Him my prayers to receive sacred discernment

Father I bring this troubled heart graciously to You
Please show me Your will, confident that You provide
My understanding would only be influenced by Satan
It's Your loving words of assurance of which I confide

A prideful society neglects the contents of their heart
While You lay with me here in this garden, others sleep
I know that the depth of valleys can be seemingly low
For with You though there is no mountain too steep

The chains of confusion have been severed with grace
Vigorously running up the mountain side of despair
I'm excited knowing I'll fall flat on my face in agony
But with You out in front Father, we make quite a pair
