We Want
We want others to help yet we never ask
We want love yet never accept each other
We want to look ahead yet we judge the past
We want peace yet we cause strife with one another
We want unity yet we cause division
We want sharing yet we ourselves are selfish
We want honesty yet we speak forked
We want to be satisfied yet we always wish
We want to be loved yet we hate ourselves
We want to know everything yet we know nothing
We want communication yet we never speak
We want acceptance yet we are always bickering
We want popularity yet we isolate ourselves
We want warmth yet we ourselves are cold
We want privacy yet we snoop
We want open hearts yet we withhold
We want to be believed yet we are dishonest
We want trust yet we never commit
We want to look at others yet never ourselves
We want humbleness yet we never submit
We want money yet we never work
We want forgiveness yet we hold a grudge
We want simplicity yet we are always difficult
We want change yet we always judge
We want relationships yet we stay enemies
We want honor yet we tear others down
We want happiness yet we are not joyous
We want a smile yet we always frown
We want God yet we are missing Jesus
We want laws yet we fail to follow commandments
We want the cross yet we seek revenge
We want the blessings yet we miss the nourishments
Why is that we want so much yet give so little
God wanted His Son Jesus yet He gave Him up to die
He allowed Jesus to be humiliated with slander
Before being slowly murdered on a cross for you and I
The next time you become self-centered with wants
Perhaps you should allow your thoughts to sway
What is it that you really need in this short lived life
Only to remember the blood that dripped that day
