Fear's Reward
I'm intrigued by others that share with me every day
With their perspectives and beliefs on a past mistake
Some can understand the causes with an open heart
While others may struggle with the part they partake
The walls constructed of disappointment and failure
Carelessly built with strong bricks of hurt arid fear
Consuming themselves with life in efforts to forget
Perception distorted of a Fathers' presence so near
Fear is a giant creature that makes us small like an ant
Bringing out the worst, cutting us off from His Plan
Blessings and gifts stood at the doorstep of your life
Yet with shortsightedness fear and disbelief you ran
How often do we ask ourselves the question "what if..."
As fear makes it's presence known at just the right time
Dwelling on it begins to magnify the situation at hand
Leaving us in the valley refusing the mountain to climb
Emotions big and small come to us freely on their own
Giving us a choice in our power on how we react
Like the Israelites in the Old Testament we are tested
Revealing if our trust is sincere when odds are stacked
Fear is simple disobedience as Father says "fear not"
This spiritual yardstick measuring our closeness to Him
Children failing to listen brings mistakes that are costly
Leading us into a bright future that at anytime will dim
Fear is the opposite of faith, love and trust in our lives
And lacking trust leads to the doorstep of heartbreak
It is written "perfect love drives out fear" in 1st John
So is punishing ourselves in this emotion worth the stake
"Forgive them Father for they know not what they do"
Rings loudly and still echoes today with tremendous fear
Jesus Himself became filled with this very ugly emotion
In that moment wondering if "YOU" would really love Him,
Dripping in blood ... and .... shedding His tear.
