Adoption

A man and woman arrive at a major decision to wed
The imagination of what life could turn out to be
The newlyweds begin a life long journey together
Learning jointly how to weather the storms and the sea

The topic of their discussion lately has been children
A family of sharing, now beginning to prepare
Shortly thereafter the woman becomes pregnant
Faces become full of glowing smiles with answered prayer

Another family, perhaps they are a little less fortunate
With the skilled nurses taking the required specimen
After running exploratory tests and lengthy exams
The doctor shares that this method won't happen

An extensive search begins as they seek out a child
Checking and interviewing agencies to assist them
Lowly in spirit, the perfect match has been made
Now an adopted child, once an orphan to condemn

Adopting a child doesn't bring any parents wealth
There's nothing to accomplish by this, no hall of fame
Becoming a part of someone's family is received
Forgiveness of the past bearing no horrifying shame

You have received a spirit of adoption the Bible shares ¹
Letting us know that we have a Father who loves us
Unconditional love offered for our taking, no games
There are those that still don't take this serious

The unchanging plan has always been to adopt us
Into His own family, bringing us through Jesus Christ
God is the living foundation of His own glorious house
Exemplified in the bloody details of what He sacrificed

When you have firmed this adoption within the heavens
Acceptance between the child and Father brings great pleasure ²
The lessons to be learned have previously been written
