Thank you for allowing me to share The Music Ministry of Connie Hanten with you.
Connie Hanten is a Christian vocalist who has been ministering in music for approximately 25 years. Originally from Holtwood, PA, Connie moved to St. Louis, MO in November, 2002. Four years later, relocating once again in May 2007, back to her hometown, where she will continue on serving God as He provides more opportunities to serve in ministry.
The Lord has opened doors for Connie to perform at a variety of functions. Her hearts passion is to minister to those that the world judges harshly. This is why the Lord has blessed her to sing and witness at homeless shelters (such as Harbor Light, MO.). Connie also enjoys ministering to other individuals such as the abused or incarcerated. The heart of Jesus shines through Connie as she loves the unlovable. Perhaps this comes from having personally felt the sting of pain. A person with scars becomes qualified to help those with cuts.
Connie is currently involved with Prison Fellowships Outreach called "Visit Prison in an Envelope" where she ministers to the incarcerated through correspondence. On a local level, Connie with her husband David ministered to youth offenders at Missouri Hills Youth Correctional Facility (St. Louis, MO), where they watched the power of God and His Word restore the broken lives of deeply hurt teens. Connie is praying that the Lord will open the doors even further into Federal and State penitentiaries. She has a desire to actually go into the prisons to minister the message of hope & forgiveness through music and the Word of God.
Based on previous concerts, Connie has the ability to softly touch your heart and unknowingly bring you to tears. She is not looking for, nor does she need, her name in lights. She doesnt have to sing with the famous or popular artists. Connie sings though with a purpose and a passion to serve Jesus and love those He loves. If you speak with her long enough, you will hear her say, This is not about me, but all about Jesus.
As a survivor of spousal abuse, Connie shares her painful experience with others. Her aspiration is that other people will see the ways in which God uses our trials. The Lord takes and uses these times to mold us into His perfect plan.
Regardless of where one might be in life, the Lord will utilize the combination of gratitude in Connies heart and her gift of vocals to inspire those who listen. Since 2003, Connie has been blessed to sing at various venues aside from singing in her home church. These include Harbor Light (mens homeless shelter), Missouri Baptist Childrens Home Strawberry Festival, Solid Rock Kaffee Haus (Eureka, MO), outdoor outreach events & prayer breakfasts.
Through diligent prayer, faith & vision Connie has released her first CD. This CD is entitled WHY?. We are in prayer that this will be used by the Lord in indescribable ways.
We all can point to a character in the Bible that we can identify with. I can relate to Mary (once called the adultress woman.) This clip touched me deeply. There was a time in my life when I was this woman, but God reached down and His mercy lifted me up. Sometimes, people who know our sins, try to nail us to a cross of guilt and unforgiveness, and expect us to carry that cross throughout the rest of our lives. Watching this clip made me ask this question, "If God can forgive me, why can't you?"
My hope is that you will take a step back and ask who in your life has God forgiven, but you can't. Then, by faith, release it to God and forgive them.
